Hasenbach Challenge

My Winter quilt I sewed as part of the Hasenbach challenge is finished. I encounter a small problem when I sprayed the quilt with water to remove the marking pen lines and the red sashing started to bleed all over the quilt. I bundled  the quilt, without the binding, into the washing machine with a couple of color catches and I was relieved to see that it came out perfect. Pew!!!!

Have a happy weekend.

liebe Vreni,

Klasse, liebe Vreni, einfach super.

Your challenge quilt came out adorable! So pretty, especially with all that "winter blue." Sorry about the red running, but glad to hear how it turned out. Unfortunately, I had the same thing happen to a quilt I made in the late '90s, long before there was such a thing as a color catcher. In spite of all attempts to remove the red, the color soaked into the hand quilting stitches and just wouldn't come out. I ended up tea-dying the entire piece, to cover up the red and give it a vintage look... though that wasn't what I was after. I learned a tough lesson, and have pre-washed all fabrics ever since.

That was lucky! I never wash any fabric before I use it. that is the risk. I am glad it was a happy ending.

Hallo Vreni,
Leonore

This has come together so well and looks great, all in time for Christmas. Aren't you so lucky to remove that bleeding every quilters nightmare.

Such a beautiful quilt. I love color catchers. I have started giving them away with quilts that I gift to people telling them how to use them. Don't want to ruin something that takes so long to make.

What an amazing invention colour catchers are and certainly saved your gorgeous quilt from disaster. Well done Vreni.x
